A Brief History
of Time:
The Gotowerks was founded in the early
19th century by J. Benjamin Gotow. It began as a farm in rural
ohio, selling Christmas trees and apples to the unsuspecting visitor.
The picture at left shows the Gotow family farm around 1850. As
the times progressed, the Gotowerks became more and more sophisticated.
It
became a pioneer in alternative fuels in 1908, as Ford rolled
out the first Model-Ts. With a scientific breakthrough in 1920
came
the legendary antigravity drive, shown
at left. The
Gotowerks quickly abandoned the "trees and apples" philosophy
and marketed their technology and business solutions. Since then,
the Gotowerks has only grown. In 1992 it launched three internet
companies: Thinkless Technologies, LimeSearch, and Pigeon
Innovations, which recently returned six figure profit margins.

Okay. So maybe not. I founded the Gotowerks in 2003 because I was bored.
I love doing web design, and the "Just Another Neglected Brainchild" idea
was just too good to pass up. The site got off to a running start with
Unstoppable Progress, the hack my dad and I developed for the MacHax
Best Hack Show in June. It won first place in the contest and was mentioned
in MacWorld and MacAddict. The version we wrote for the show was extremely
rough around the edges, and we decided
to post
version
two here.
At the time, the Gotowerks was only half finished. I
posted
what I
had:
a poorly
written home page and a blurb about the hack. Unstoppable Progress
was downloaded 7000 times in the first few weeks and I rushed to finish
the
site. It's
still not completely done, but it's getting there!
The Gotowerks has become the trash heap of my imagination. The
projects section is full of little apps I wrote over the weekends. Some
of them
are larger
and better developed than others, and a few are full-fledged utilities.
Whatever size they are, the same rules apply. Everything here at the
Gotowerks is free and open-source. Take a look around. There's some neat
stuff here!
Click a thumbnail to view the project
page. Some of them haven't been posted yet, so a few of the links might
not work.
